Dear President Barack Obama,
With election in the full swing, and commercials gossiping from all directions, one cannot but ask, is what USA is about? Is this the place where remarkable people were heading to accomplish exceptional contributions to this country and the world? Is this the land of prosperous discoveries and inventions?
Today, calling on climate change; overspending people’s resources; unemployment, limiting funds to education and health care; not a single word is announced from either side of our administration to cut own salaries, auto funds, living expenses to patriotically support the majority people of our country.
In this process, one name stands out. The name of Nikola Tesla! He had announced over century ago, where this country and the whole planet will be heading, if bankers and politicians of his time had their way. We are here again. From Ponzi scheme to bankrupting the country/world, history repeats itself. In the country of free speech, number one value of democratic society, somehow, free speech to Nikola Tesla has been cut off long time ago. His name and his scientific work cannot be found in the text books from K-12. Why? Who is eliminating colossal scientific humanitarian work of Nikola Tesla from the school programs? Where are the lessons so his ethics can teach others across the board?
Children are driving force for the future of this country, and they are entitled to learn about man who singlehandedly discovered electro/electronic future of the world. His, nature inspired, multidisciplinary legacy, exemplify what is most important to development of ‘man as a machine’ tuned to ‘the wheelwork of the universe.’ From this supreme mind children can learn from early age, and build their future for ultimate betterment of the world. Nikola Tesla, through his example of life and discoveries, addresses that science and art are complementary disciplines, and together, they enhance learning process to ultimate knowledge.
From natural science (mathematics, physics, biology, medicine, food), to social science (philosophy, ethics, languages, literature, poetry); shows, explicitly that Art and Science are two branches of the same tree. The Tree of Knowledge!
Tesla’s patents will point out to children that they are most precious beings of the world, who’s purpose and obligation is to build the world where love and peace ‘will regain supreme.’
Now, 112 year later the world is 1000 years behind.
Mr. President, I am asking you to take an action and bring the name of Nikola Tesla with his scientific work and legacy to the school programs K-12. American people are entitled to have the best education possible. Not having access to scientific legacy of this statue and magnitude in K-12 programs, students of this country are enormously handicapped right from the start of their early age education.
Now is the time to act and support early age, Preschool-12 education.
Sincerely,
Branka Perovic
